Here are a few design blogs that have peaked my interest and have been inspirational. Synthesize Your Imagination!!!
Going into our first project in Web 1 was something exciting and new. I was new to web design with html and css before starting this semester. I knew I would struggle with the coding side (part 2) of this project. Picking a local business was relatively easy, and so was designing the website in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I have become familiar with those programs for some time. I did not keep in mind that everything I could accomplish in design with Illustrator and Photoshop would not be as easy to accomplish in html and css. I made myself work harder than I needed to. Yes, I am my own worst enemy. Most of my website was very image based, so I became familiar with transferring images, paying attention to pixel dimensions, and image layering through coding.
After going through the process and seeing the work that goes into it and the possibilities of html and css, I have a better understanding and mindset for future projects. My portfolio site will be less graphic and image based from my first website. It will have more of a modern look. This has influenced the design process and the decisions I will be making when designing my portfolio site.
Check out my project 1 for Web 1. We had to redesign a local business’ website. The local business I chose was Leaded Glass Design.
This is an online portfolio that really stands out from the crowd. DJNR crafted this highly interactive site, which includes a GIF of a working day that coincides with the bar running at the bottom of the page. There’s also music and a highly eye-catching color scheme. You can browse through all the projects on one page, which includes development, games, animation and design. This website offers a lot of options for the viewer. Its holds your interest and organizes information it a modern format.
After looking at a fellow classmate’s blog, I came across a aggregator website that they posted about that is widely used. This aggregator website is Pinterest, a well renown site used all over the world. People use Pinterest primarily for inspiration. Images are “pinned” or posted on Pinterest and can be followed to outside websites. These images can be about any topic, some include weddings, recipes, and nifty arts and craft projects. If you ever need some inspiration or some hours to kill, Pinterest might just be for you.
There are many websites on the web that give hints and tips to programmers. Different effects and methods on using HTML and CSS coding are shared. Most of these sites are on blogs. Creativebloq.com is on site that gives the user a large range of knowledge and opportunity.
